Setting up email/SMTP

SMTP allows a third party to access your email account in order to send emails on your behalf. The SMTP setting will allow Commusoft to send emails to your customers - these emails can be certificates, service reminders, estimates, purchase orders, invoices etc. Please note that Commusoft will not see your emails.

If you are using Gmail as your email provider you may have to change a few settings within Gmail in order for SMTP to work correctly. Click here to see how to do this

To setup the company SMTP details click on 'Your Business' in the top navigation and click 'Company Details'. From here you can click on the little email. A popup appears.

Enter in your SMTP details and type in your email address and password and click 'Save'. Please note - the email address within the company details screen needs to be the same email as used in the SMTP details

If Commusoft doesn't recognise your email address then it will ask you for your outgoing email server (SMTP), port number, and security type.

Gmail mailbox Hotmail mailbox Yahoo mailbox All other email
Username Your full mailbox email address  Your email address

If the details you entered are correct Commusoft will email you a confirmation email with a link to verify and activate your SMTP settings. Please note that the email may have been filtered into spam or junk. Once you have clicked this link, all email communications via Commusoft will be sent via your email account.

Emails sent through SMTP may not appear under sent items. This is simply the way your email provider handles SMTP and does not mean your emails are not being sent or received.
